— Dollars paid for prom dress. SO EXCITED. It was so cheap that my mom offered to pay for it AND shoes.

Ready, Set…
Ricky, Sharon and I rode together.  5 boroughs, 42 miles and 0 pee breaks from yours truly.  I had a great time and I’m considering making biking in these tours my “thing.”
You should know though, my previous “thing” attempts have included mustard expert and push-up enthusiast, so don’t hold out too much hope for this one to take.

This all seems kinda wussy compared to the 40-60 miles per day, for a full week, I did as a 5th grader in Mr. Bueker’s Ride-Across-California trip, one he coordinated for 15+ years. It’s nice that a teacher could coordinate something that still holds so much meaning.

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
I don’t know if this is considered country or not, but do I care? Tell me if you don’t cry. I listen to this song a lot, even though I’m not 100 percent sure of its meaning.

Fuck it

I LOVE that Leona Lewis song. I’m a fan of Mariah Carey circa 1991 so it’s no wonder.

Pop songs are so underrated.

So

Did anyone else cry when they read Kastner’s letter about graduating? Or when they saw how fucking beautiful the CSF banquet invitations are (take note, junior prom committee)?

SJP stuff

I may have a friend at Middlebury! Jordie, who is from rural Washington and shared with me a love of indie music, is deciding now between Midd and Whitman.

Other SJP choices I can recall at this moment:

Krystal - Princeton
Pamela - Marist
Eileen - Yale
Aala - Yale
Oriana - Williams
Marion - Cornell
Melanie - UMaryland College Park
TaBresha - Auburn
Shadia - Brown
Arielle - Barnard
Rinda - Wellesley
Stephanie - Notre Dame

I’m dying to see where Ruben decided to go. (Ruben is an insanely talented - he speaks 4+ languages, acts, revitalized his school’s newspaper and works at CVS to help his family of FOUR siblings and immigrant parents - and CHARMING - he would always comment about how he was surrounded by beautiful, intelligetn women - guy, one of two at SJP. He took a couple hour subway ride to visit me while I was in Philly and we’ve talked on the phone for hours.)

Photobucket

Ruben got into Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Williams and Wesleyan, among others.

Whatever. I love Boyz II Men. I would have sex with all of them. Even the weird one with the glasses.

I won’t even mention my feelings towards the suave singer on the left in this video.

One minute of bliss. This is, in my mind, why video and audio are meant to be together. Just thinking about The Wonder Years makes me want to cry - there’s nothing better than coming-of-age stories and the Savage brothers.

The Cost of Prom

So what the fuck, prom is coming up.

I just spent an hour researching and making appointments for beauty shit.

I figured: this is the only time besides my wedding where I will go all out with vanity, so why not make sure I get it right? And it is kind of fun to have someone paying attention to you, although embarassing when they point out that you don’t do shit to take care of your appearance.

-$52+ - full set and pedicure - Happy Nails in Mira Mesa
-$20+ - make-up done - NARS Cosmetics at Fashion Valley
-$55+ - hair blow-dried and styled - JetRhys in Hillcrest

Ugh.

My remaining expenses include:

->$150 -DRESS (!) (WHY did I leave this to the last minute)
-$40 - gas, parking, and tempera paint (for tuxedo van) if Kevin and I decide we want to drive there
-$55 - pictures
-$13 - boutonniere

Kevin is being really great and paid for my ticket and will pay for dinner again. Still, this whole thing is sort of ridiculous. I’m sure my mom will help with gas, but dammit. This better be a good prom.

Also, the tickets/free gift they gave us ARE SO TRASHY. I threw away my weird picture frame with a leather strap on it.
